Bethlehem was a small and seemingly insignificant town, yet God chose it as the birthplace of Jesus Christ. Bethlehem, however, already carried a rich history: it was the hometown of King David and a place of prophecy, memorial, sacrifice, and even conflict. Through Bethlehem, we are reminded that God often works in surprising ways through the unlikely and overlooked. This Advent season, as we reflect on Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem, we will also discover how God delights in using all who surrender to Him — no matter how great or small they may appear.
