Week 3 | Experience New Life

Summary of this week’s material: Greg Musselman shares many stories from his life experience with Voice of the Martyrs. Through these stories, we are encouraged about the new life in Jesus happening despite persecution.

How to use it: After watching/listening to this week’s message, from February 20, 2022, use the questions to go deeper into the message, with your group…or on your own. The questions will introduce you to the topic, reflect content from the sermon, go ‘Beyond the Message’, & get you thinking about practical applications for your life.

1) Greg Musselman spoke about his colleague Colin connecting him to Westland Baptist. Who has been a part of your ‘say yes to Jesus’ story? Who connected you?

2) What stands out to you as the most compelling insight of the sermon this week?

3) Greg Musselman shared a story of going to encourage a group of people who, after the martyring of all their church leaders, felt they had been forgotten. Has there been a time when you felt forgotten? What did God use to encourage you through that?

4) God calls us to use our skills and talents to encourage others for Jesus. Identify a skill or talent you have and how you can put that to use to advance the Kingdom of God.

5) Read 2 Corinthians 5:17. Share an example of how you or someone you know became a ‘new creation’. (For example: Greg shared that he stopped swearing when he became a ‘new creation’.)

6) Revelation 2:10 tells us to “Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.” Mrs. Kim became a Christian in her 70s and graduated from Bible school when she was 85. Greg shared, “There is no retirement in the Kingdom of God”. In your life, how might that statement be lived out?

7) Read and reflect on Revelation 6:9-11. Despite persecution, these saints maintained their testimony. Persecution, although it varies in different settings, is present wherever ‘new life in Jesus’ is growing. How do you maintain your testimony, when you feel persecuted? With your group, create a list of ways to maintain your testimony. (For example: Greg suggested to pray for government leaders instead of criticizing them.)
