Week 5 | Experience New Life (Copy)
Summary of this week’s material: We have been focusing on experiencing new life in Jesus— in, among, and beyond. This week, Pastor Mark reminds us of our vision at West Meadows to be the heart of new life in Lewis Farms.
How to use it: After watching/listening to this week’s message, from March 13, 2022, use the questions to go deeper into the message, with your group…or on your own. The questions will introduce you to the topic, reflect content from the sermon, go ‘Beyond the Message’, & get you thinking about practical applications for your life.
1) A lot has transpired over the last two years. Thinking back, is there something that you once had a vision for that you want to reignite? How has your vision for things from two years ago changed? Is it possible that your vision was a good thing but not necessarily a God thing?
2) What stands out to you as the most compelling insight from this week’s sermon?
3) What is your definition of vision?
4) Read Nehemiah 1:5-9. In Nehemiah’s prayer, there is a confession of sin. Pastor Mark mentioned two types of sins. What are they? Read Luke 10:30-37 and identify examples of each type.
5) Read Nehemiah 2:1-18. Take the time to retell the story of Nehemiah and his longing to see new life in, among, & beyond.
6) Nehemiah had a vision of unity and renewal for his nation. At West Meadows, we have a vision, too. Our vision is to be the heart of new life in Lewis Farms. What does it mean to be at the heart of something?
7) Nehemiah felt a strong identity with God’s people, even while geographically distanced from them. Identifying with people helps us reach them.
a) Who do you identify with?
b) Is there a way that you could better identify with the people of Lewis Farms?
c) If we do not identify with the people of Lewis Farms, how will that affect us completing our vision?
8) As a group, brainstorm ways to bring the heart of new life to Lewis Farms by imagining what a post-Covid new season could look like.
