1 Thessalonians | Live For Him 'Til We Live With Him
How to use it: After watching/listening to this week’s message, from February 19, 2023, use the questions to go deeper into the message, with your group…or on your own. The questions will introduce you to the topic, reflect content from the sermon, go ‘Beyond the Message’, & get you thinking about practical applications for your life.
When was the last time you sent or received a handwritten letter? What was the situation surrounding it, and how did it make you feel?
Read 1 Thess 4:1-8 and answer the following questions.
a. The phrase “live to please God” (v.1) can also be understood to mean “continue walking to please God.” What does this phrase describe about your journey with Jesus?
b. What does the word “sanctified” (v.3) mean? (ref: 1 Peter 1:13-15). Paul mentions sexual immorality as an example of when the world and Word of God
are in conflict (v.3-8). Take a moment to reflect on other examples of when the world and Word conflict in your life?
c. Read Galatians 5:16-17. What does the flesh desire for you and what does the Spirit desire? What does John 14:15-17 tell us our response is to be? How does the Holy Spirit help us in this? (ref: John 16:13-15)
Read 1 Thess 4:13-18 and answer the following questions.
a. In your own words, define “the rapture.”
b. What thoughts and feelings do you have when you read this passage?
c. What does Paul say we should be doing while we wait for this blessed day? (ref: 1 Thess 4:9-12)
d. Read Titus 2:11-14. How does this passage sum up the saying, “Live for Jesus today, until we live with him tomorrow?”
e. As Paul suggests in v.18, how can we use this passage to encourage one another?
