Pastor411 | Week 3

How to use it: After watching/listening to this week’s message, from April 30, 2023, use the questions to go deeper into the message, with your group…or on your own. The questions will introduce you to the topic, reflect content from the sermon, go ‘Beyond the Message’, & get you thinking about practical applications for your life.

  1. Have you ever participated in things like yoga, eastern medicines, acupuncture, etc? Just because these are rooted in non-Western cultures does not mean Christians should avoid them. Read 1 Cor 10:31 and consider how we can decide.

  2. Recall the difference between prescriptive and descriptive passages in the Bible. Why is it important to know the difference? Read the following passages and discuss if they are descriptive or prescriptive. Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:42-47 (note: there may be differing opinions on this).

  3. Have you been baptized as an infant, a believer, or maybe both? Have a few people share their baptism stories and why it was special to them. Read Acts 2:36-40; 8:34-39; 18:25-34 and discuss the pattern presented. What is the difference between infant baptism and believer’s baptism. Do you need to be baptized as a believer of Jesus? If so, contact Pastor Mark.

  4. Read Rom 8:28-29 and Deut 30:19-20. What do these passages reveal to us about predestination and our limited free will?

    a. What does it mean that God is sovereign?

    b. Why is free will necessary? What are the natural limits upon our free will?

    c. If God knows all, do your choices matter?
